Morton Marcus

Morton J. Marcus has taught economics at the Indiana University, Kelley School of Business since 1970.  As the director of the School’s business research center, he leads a team that studies our changing economy and population.  His analysis of current economic trends in Indiana and across the nation appear monthly in the Indiana Business Review Update.

His observations and conclusions are presented with wit and statistics to business and civic groups everywhere.  His views are featured in a weekly newspaper column.

Born to be a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Mr. Marcus moved into Cubs territory in 1954 and earned a degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago.  He then rooted for the Cardinals while securing a graduate degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis.  He rejoined the Dodgers on the west coast, where he pursued doctoral studies at the University of California at Los Angeles.  He now lives in Reds’ territory, where he and his hard-working wife maintain a heavy mortgage to provide shelter for a collection of unemployed dogs and cats.  Mr. Marcus has three grown children living away from home.
