Morton Marcus
Morton
J. Marcus has taught economics at the Indiana
University, Kelley School of
Business since 1970. As the director of
the School’s business research center, he leads a team that studies our
changing economy and population. His
analysis of current economic trends in Indiana
and across the nation appear monthly in the Indiana
Business Review Update.
His
observations and conclusions are presented with wit and statistics to business
and civic groups everywhere. His views
are featured in a weekly newspaper column.
Born to be a fan of the Brooklyn
Dodgers, Mr. Marcus moved into Cubs territory in 1954 and earned a degree from Roosevelt
University in Chicago. He then rooted for the Cardinals while
securing a graduate degree in economics from Washington
University in St.
Louis. He
rejoined the Dodgers on the west coast, where he pursued doctoral studies at
the University of California
at Los Angeles. He now lives in Reds’ territory, where he and
his hard-working wife maintain a heavy mortgage to provide shelter for a
collection of unemployed dogs and cats.
Mr. Marcus has three grown children living away from home.
