On Faults

   You could spy faults if your eyes were out.




   Conceal defects for charity and cover up small faults.




   A fault once denied is twice committed.




   Where love fails we espy all faults.




   Faults in the life breed errors in the brain,
     And these reciprocally those again.




   Denying a fault doubles it.




   Not to repent of a fault is to justify it.




   A fault confessed is half redressed.


   
   
   However blind a man may be, 
     Another's faults he is sure to see.
