Industry / Sloth

Prov 6:6-11 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways,
   and be wise: {7} Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, {8}
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the
harvest. {9} How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt
thou arise out of thy sleep? {10} Yet a little sleep, a little
slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: {11} So shall
thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an
   armed man.

Prov 10:4-5 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand:
but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. {5} He that gathereth
in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a
   son that causeth shame.

Prov 12:11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with
bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of
   understanding.

Prov 12:24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the
   slothful shall be under tribute.

Prov 12:27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took
in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

Prov 13:4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath
nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

Prov 13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but
he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

Prov 14:23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the
   lips tendeth only to penury.

Prov 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to
him that is a great waster.

Prov 19:15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an
   idle soul shall suffer hunger.

   Prov 20:4   The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold;
therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

Prov 20:13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open
thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

Prov 21:5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to
plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

Prov 21:25-26 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his
hands refuse to labour. {26} He coveteth greedily all the day
long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

Prov 22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he
shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Prov 23:21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to
poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

Prov 24:30-34 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the
vineyard of the man void of understanding; {31} And, lo, it was
all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face
thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. {32} Then
I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received
instruction. {33} Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a
little folding of the hands to sleep: {34} So shall thy poverty
come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Prov 26:13-16 The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the
way; a lion is in the streets. {14} As the door turneth upon
his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. {15} The
slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring
it again to his mouth. {16} The sluggard is wiser in his own
conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

Prov 27:23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks,
and look well to thy herds.

Prov 28:19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of
bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have
   poverty enough.

Prov 31:27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and
eateth not the bread of idleness.

Eccl 10:18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and
through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

Rom 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving
   the Lord.

Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him
labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he
may have to give to him that needeth.

1 Th 4:11-12 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your
own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded
you; {12} That ye may walk honestly toward them that are
without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

2 Th 3:10-12 For even when we were with you, this we
commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he
eat. {11} For we hear that there are some which walk among you
disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. {12} Now
them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus
Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

1 Tim 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially
for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is
   worse than an infidel.
