Richard Liebno ~ An Everyday Hero
 

Richard Liebno is a charter member of the Deer Park Lions Club and is currently serving his 14th term as treasurer. He served as president twice and has been selected as a Melvin Jones Fellow and three times as Lion of the Year. He chairs the annual basket bingo as well as The Westminster Train Show.

He has served Lions District 22-W as Zone Chair, Region Chair, Cabinet member and Cabinet Secretary. He has chaired the Region IV, Zone III golf tournament for 7 years and is chairman of the USA/Canada Leadership Forum. He is the treasurer of the Lions Vision Research Foundation, Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins.

He chairs the golf tournament for Grace Lutheran Church, is treasurer for the Western Maryland Railroad Historical Society, and is vice president of the Maryland Gold Wings, Inc. He is president of the Tourism Council of Carroll County, Inc. Richard works tirelessly to help those who are less fortunate by raising funds for the many worthy causes and organizations of Carroll County.

His work with the Tourism Council attracts tourists to our area and revenue to our county.

 

This results in a healthier local economy for all. Incorporated as a charitable group, the Maryland Gold Wings, Inc. has a strong commitment to the ARC of Carroll County as well as to motorcycle and safety awareness.

Richard's 34 years of service have provided thousands of hours of service to the community as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars to multiple causes including, but not limited to, the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Carroll County Food Sunday, Carroll Hospital Center, ICAN Foundation, Granite House, Leader Dogs fo the Blind, Maryland School for the Blind, Meals on Wheels, Mission of Mercy, Student Volunteers Optometric Service, the US Association of Blind Athletes and Lions Vision Research Foundation, Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins.
