Originally routed from Indiana state line in Union City to 2 miles west
of West Jefferson along current route 571 from Indiana state line to 1 mile
east of Greenville, route 36 from 1 mile east of Greenville to Urbana, and
route 29 from Urbana to 2 miles west of West Jefferson.
Indiana state line to Greenville certified as route 71 in 1932.
Greenville to Urbana certified as route 36 in 1932.
Truncated at Urbana in 1932.
Indiana state line to St. Marys was route 32 before 1938.
Indiana state line to St. Marys was route 54 from 1938-39.
St. Marys to Urbana was route 54 before 1939.
In 1939, extended to Indiana state line along previous route 54.
Celina to route 364 upgraded to divided highway in 1973.
