Originally routed along current route 588 from Rio Grande to Gallipolis.
Entire route was route 11 before 1935.
In 1956, upgraded to four lanes from current location of Beavercreek to
Xenia.
Indiana state line to 2 miles east of Indiana state line rerouted along
route 70 in 1962.
Dayton to current location of Beavercreek upgraded to four lanes in 1962.
Richmond Dale to 5 miles east of Richmond Dale upgraded to four lanes in
1962.
5 miles west of route 104 to route 104 upgraded to four lanes by 1966.
Chillicothe bypass added as a two-lane highway by 1966.
Chillicothe bypass upgraded to freeway in 1969.
Winchester to Centerville upgraded to divided highway in 1969.
Gallipolis bypass added in 1970.
