History of route 37:
Original state highway.
Originally routed from Lancaster to Marietta along current route 37 from
Lancaster to 1 mile west of Malta, route 78 from 1 mile west of Malta to
McConnelsville, and route 60 from McConnelsville to Marietta.
Findlay to Marseilles and Granville to Luray were unnumbered before
1931.
Findlay to Marseilles and Granville to Luray were route 47 from
1931-32.
Marseilles to Granville was route 47 before 1932.
In 1932, extended to Findlay along previous route 79 from Lancaster to
Luray and previous route 47 from Luray to Findlay.
McConnelsville to Marietta certified as route 77 in 1935.
Truncated at 1 mile west of Malta in 1935.
Routing from Alexandria to Granville changed to the current routing in
1964.
2 miles west of Granville to Granville upgraded to divided highway in
1970.
Delaware to route 71 upgraded to divided highway in 1977.
