Original state highway.
Originally routed from Woodmere to Pennsylvania state line 3 miles east
of Vernon along current route 87 from Woodmere to Burton, route 168 from
Burton to Parkman, and route 88 from Parkman to Pennsylvania state line.
Cleveland to Woodmere was unnumbered before 1926.
Burton to North Bloomfield was route 168 before 1926.
North Bloomfield to Kinsman was unnumbered before 1938.
In 1926, extended to Cleveland along previous unnumbered roads. Routed
directly across route 175 and then southeastward before going due east near
route 91.
In 1926, rerouted from Burton to North Bloomfield along previous
route 168.
Burton to Parkman certified as route 168 in 1926.
Parkman to Pennsylvania state line certified as route 88 in 1926.
In 1938, extended to Kinsman along previous unnumbered road.
