Born in Sulzbach, Ober-Pfalz, Bavaria, Germany. Baptized Johann
Ludwig in Pfarrkirche St. Marien on 20 Jul 1873. Came to the US from
Bremen about August, 1886 at age 13. Confirmed in Zion Lutheran
Church by Pastor Anton Wagner in 1887. Naturalized in the Circuit Cou
rt of Cook County with his father on October 19, 1894. John Klasen,
Jr. was the witness. Per 1917 Draft Records: Tall Height, Medium
Build, Gray Eyes, Black Hair. Co-founder of Fuhrman & Forster Co. in
1897 with brother Andrew and George Forster (husband of sister
Elizabeth Fuhrman Forster). John applied for a passport on July 26,
1920 to visit Cuba, Jamica, Porto Rico, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala
and West Indies for business and pleasure. He intended to leave from
Key West with his wife Dorothea and daughter Anna. His description
is: Stature, 5 feet, 10 1/2 inches; Forehead, high; Eyes, gray; Nose,
straight; Mouth, medium; Chin, round; Hair, gray; Complexion, medium;
Face, full. Maurice Hartnett, Sales Manager, was the witness. {known
for 15 years, 5916 S. Sangamon St.} The passport was later ammended
to include Columbia sailing from New York on Sept. 15, 1920.

Lambrecht of St. Peters German Evangelical Church. Witnesses were
Andreas Fuhrmann and Marie Hermann. {The Church is now St.Peter's
United Church of Christ located at 5450 West Diversy Ave.}

Originally buried in Concordia Cemetery.
Possibly moved to Bethania Cemetery in 1896 to be buried with
her mother. (Bethania did not open until 1894.) Concordia has no
record of her removal and Bethania records only indicate an "Infant
Lange" burial but no date.
