If you need to, set up a chess
set according to the picture
on the right. Look for any
way possible to make check.
Then see if black (meaning
your opponent, as you have
the white pieces) can get
out of check. If there's no
way for black to get out of
check, it's checkmate!
A bit of advice: Just giving
check to your opponent's
king is not necessarily good.
Look for how your opponent
can get out of check. If there
is no way to get out of check,
then you can make checkmate.
