Member of the Sunflower Family (Asteraceae)


This is a hardy plant that can easily survive in the hot weather and with little water. It is also called "Rock Daisy" and "Plains Black-Foot". It's name comes from a foot-shaped bract that turns dark when it matures. Bloom period March through November. This flower was photographed near Fredricksburg, Texas Spring 2000.
