Proboscidea louisianica
Unicorn Family
- Martyniaceae
This is also known as "ram's horn" and "unicorn plant". The plant produces a strange looking seed pod. The Seedpods split open and form a pair of hooks or claws. When dry this is what they use to make the "Texas Mosquito" that you see in tourist shops. Bloom time is June thru September. The photo taken just inside the Texas border coming back from Colorado. Although the bloom is beautiful, it's aroma is not.
