Bloom period March through June. Although I usually take pictures of Texas Wildflowers I couldn't resist this group of cactus. The bloom was not there yet but the cactus themselves were so pretty. Also known as: White Lace Cactus, Brown Lace Cactus and Hedgehog Cactus. Highly collected because of dazzling pink bloom. Echino is Greek for "Hedgehog". This photo was taken in Palo Pinto county at Fort Richardson State Park.
