When I was a kid, there were always commercials on TV with Smokey the Bear. Remember that whole "Only you can prevent forest fires" spiel. Apparently, it took a bear to figure this out. He'd always show up at some campsite, always friendly, telling the family of happy campers not to forget to "put out the fire when you leave"... You know, no one EVER thought this was odd... Never ONCE did anyone panic... C'mon, it's a huge talking grizzly in a little ranger hat! You don't see this everyday... Now, if it was MY family, as soon as Smokey would have wandered up, Dad would have pulled out a rifle and started firing! "What the hell? It's a friggin' bear in a little ranger hat!" BLAM!... Smokey would have maybe gotten out "Remember, only you can..." BLAM! BLAM! Right through his little firefighter badge... Then, we would have thrown him on the bonfire and ate bear burgers for weeks. Took turns wearing our new fur coat and little ranger hat. Wouldn't put the fire out either. Let it burn itself out. Just to spite Smokey... But hey, that's just my family...
