STILL MORE McDANIEL DOGS - RESCUE

My contribution to Old English Sheepdog Rescue so far has been to Fetch. If a dog needs to be picked up and delivered to a Foster Home or a New Owner, that's where I come in.

F-150 and I hit the road again to get a Rescue Dog from Point A to Point B. The following are the dogs I've "fetched".

  1. SAILOR
  2. Sailor was in Lake Jackson, Texas and needed to go to a foster home in The Woodlands. This was the first "fetch", only 200 miles and 6 hours. Piece of cake!

Sailor on the left above is "as found": dirty, flea-infested, and needing some serious grooming. Sailor on the right above is "after" bath, dip, and haircut, courtesy of Fidge and Sandy. A nice looking pup after all!

After living with Foster-Mom, Fidge, for a while, Sailor ended up in a home in Waco, Texas, with a new name, Winston, and new family. Seems to be doing great.

  3. WATSON
  4. Watson was in Covington, LA, living with Foster-Mom, Jennie, and needed to get to San Antonio to be picked up by his new owners, Eric and Lisa. That was an 1,100 mile, 17 hour trip. Eric & Lisa drove from Alamogordo, NM to San Antonio to receive Watson, no small fetch in itself. Fortunately, ol' Watson is a good traveller, 'cause he spent a lot of time on the road, too!

The Picture on the left is Watson as delivered to his new adoptive "parents". The picture on the right is the whole family: Watson, Eric, Lisa, Chamois [the cat!], and Yogi. Looks like a happy family portrait.

  5. MACKIE
  6. Mackie is shown in more detail on the other dog pages; but since I went all the way to the airport to fetch her, here she is again. This big girl is for our own personal use and enjoyment.

  7. FAITH, HOPE, AND CHARITY
  8. Faith, Hope, and Charity, a.k.a. The Conroe Girls, had their own page for a couple of months. During which time the outpouring of love, care, and concern was all that one could possibly imagine. It also made all the time and effort worthwhile. These girls were a short "fetch" for me, but hung around the house for a month or so while we got them ready for adoption. They've each gone on to a better home where they will bring joy to loving and caring families. I was much blessed to have encountered them.

Click on the picture for more about these girls.

  9. BILLIE ANN
  10. Billie Ann was one of the Missouri Puppy Mill Auction dogs. As an eight year old lady she is hardly a girl, and ordinarily would be difficult to place. Fortunately, I knew an older couple who had fostered Faith and who had just lost their ancient Doberman. Billie Ann is shy and very laid back; she fits her new home perfectly. I fetched Billie Ann from Dallas along with the next dog on this list.

  11. SHELLY
  12. Shelly made the trip from Dallas to Houston with Billie Ann and me. Shelly has been renamed Annie [as in Little Orphan] and lives with her new adoptive "parents" and their five sons. It's quite a houseful, but everybody seems to be making space for everybody else and getting along just fine.

  13. MILLIE
  14. Millie was an "owner turn-in." She was a clean, healthy, and well cared for girl that had to go to a new home. So she did. Picture on the left is Millie when I fetched her from her owners. They drove over 300 miles round-trip to meet me half way; I drove a similar distance to make the pickup.

Picture on the right is Millie with her new family who came to pick her up at my house. They beat a path to my door as soon as I called and reported that Millie was here. When it came time to go to her new home, Millie trotted over to the car, climbed into the back seat and sat down. She seemed to be saying, "Let's go, folks; I've had enough excitement for one day." I suspect the excitement for Millie and her new family is just beginning.
