LADY JANE - REST IN PEACE

Lady Jane

Sunday, April 25, 1999 Lady Jane crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Lorraine's patio. She had had a bath, was towel-dried, and had steak bits for lunch. She lay in the sun and slowly passed on to the ultimate rescue home. She will be missed.

Lady Jane came into Rescue almost by accident. Lorraine was Pound-hopping for a Poodle group and noticed a sheep-dog-looking dog. It was horribly dirty and matted, but a closer look showed it to be an OES. Lorraine brought the dog home where she and Sally cleaned it up, shaved it down, made it a place to stay, and named her Lady Jane. Then it was discovered that Lady Jane was blind. We chose not to place her because she was blind and also because she appeared to be quite old. As it happened, that was the right thing to do.

For the last two weeks, Lady Jane's health had been failing, and our concern had been mounting. It was becoming apparent that she was losing control of her rear and not moving at all like she had been. She was becoming incontinent and was unable to avoid her own mess. She remained to the last the sweet, loveable girl that we had gotten to know. Now she is at rest. Lady Jane was cremated and buried in Plano, Texas.
