Welcome to our website. Our names are Şansal Yıldız and Sharon Savage.

Şansal (pronounced "Shahn-SAHL") is a Turkish engineer currently performing his mandatory service in the Turkish Navy. He is an enthusiastic student of history and science, an accomplished chess player, and a talented singer of Turkish classical music.

Sharon is an American chemist living in Columbia, Missouri, USA. Her interests include international travel, learning new languages, and "trying everything at least once." Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2007 and is currently undergoing chemo in preparation for a long life with her best friend and true love, Şansal, by her side.

We originally met through Şansal 's lyrics translation website, and exchanged 430 e-mails before first meeting in person in Istanbul. We have since gotten engaged, and have applied for a K-1 (Fiance) visa. In the meantime, the two of us are looking forward to our next rendezvous in Istanbul in September.

Besides the two of us, our future household includes our dogs, Savvy & Piper, who have worked as models for Hallmark Cards and Purina.
