Savvy loves to herd and currently has eight herding titles in AKC and AHBA (HSAs, HIAs, HXAs, HTDIs, HTDIId, HRDIs, HRDIIs HRDIIIs) and a leg towards HSBs. He has won a Reserve High in Trial from the HRDII and HXAs classes and has placed over USBCHA Open dogs. Savvy's success in competition comes despite the fact that he seldom has the chance to work sheep or cattle more than once a month. Savvy made his USBCHA debut in March 2005 on sheep, and is currently competing at the Pro-Novice level. After working cattle only about 6-7 times, he entered two USBCHA cattle time & points trials in June, 2006 and got a 2nd place in a large Novice class. Savvy has been extremely easy for a beginner to teach. He has great endurance and a highly developed work ethic. Savvy has never quit working unless I ask him--even in hot weather. He has an excellent sense of balance, and medium eye, which has grown stronger as he learned to drive. I am having lots of fun learning to herd with Savvy! |
