Sharon's Dog-Related Qualifications

  • M.S. in Zoology, with a specialty in Animal Behavior

  • 22 years dog training experience, with numerous titles in obedience, agility, conformation, weight pulling, sheep/duck herding and go-to-ground, and many National #1 or Top 10 breed rankings in the USA and UK.

  • Have worked with over 1000 dogs and their owners in group and private classes.

  • Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers from 1996-2004, and attended two of their international conferences.

  • The University of Wisconsin and University of Missouri Veterinary Medical Schools

  • The Dane County (Madison, WI) Veterinary Medical Association

  • Dog Days of Wisconsin Summer Camp (keynote speaker)

  • University of Wisconsin Departments of Zoology, Biochemistry, and Biological Anthropology

  • Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), Department of Physiology

  • Extensive experience working with therapy dogs.  Spent two years as Area Coordinator for the UK "Pets As Therapy" scheme.  My dog Piper and I were selected to represent PAT at Crufts and the National Dog Show.

  • Have appeared with Piper in Purina ads, and with both dogs on KOMU TV-8's live morning show "Pepper & Friends" (total of 8 times so far).

  • Published author of numerous dog behavior articles, and have been interviewed frequently in both broadcast and print media as an expert on dog-related issues.   I have spoken on animal behavior before many professional organizations and academic departments, including:
