Piper and I were one of the 4,500 teams in the UK affiliated with the "Pets As Therapy" program. Piper was a weekly "pet assisted therapy" volunteer for about four years. In addition to making visits to eight different hospitals and nursing homes with Piper, I also volunteered as the Area Coordinator for PAT during the two years I was in England.
