WARNING: This page contains huge spoilers to the game Kana -Little Sister-. If you got here by accident, head back to the main page and stay there.

There is some thought in Kana Imouto's storyline, if you think it out. Maybe you have already played through the game and were touched. But did you ever stop to consider...

Consider this

Kana was not supposed to live past the age of 11, yet she lives a good many years longer than that. She later writes in her diary that this is because of Taka, the origin of her energy to live. It is not until Kana discovers that Taka has a girlfriend that her condition truly becomes terminal.

If the love letter to Yumi was never found by her classmates then Taka would hardly have ever visited Kana, maybe not at all. Of course, then there would not have been much of a story.

During Teacher Conference day, Kana gets nervous reading her essay about her older brother, for good reason. Taka was not supposed to hear it. He attended her class instead of her parents at the last minute. The bud of the Parnassus plant bloomed as the snow melted away.

The irony

During the intellectual endings, Taka's father figures out how much Taka really loved Kana and can tell how close the bond is between them, a conversation that takes place a few hours before Kana's death.
But during the true ending, nobody is the wiser to the relationship between Taka and Kana, which goes on for little over a year. However, since the relationship is unknown Kana decides to move away and live on her own because of it.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Kana wants to be smart and go to college to learn molecular life science. However, if she lives all she ends up becoming is a clerk at a bookstore.

Taka - when in the mountains his father won't give him a piggy-back ride, but when he's in the hospital Miki forces him to take one on her.

No matter what ending you go on, poor Yuta never gets Kana. Yumi can at least get Taka during certain endings.

Under the microscope

First and foremost, this little section isn't about things I disliked about the game. I would not drill the mistakes of a great game like Kana -Little Sister-, especially over such minor details that don't even distract from the game in the slightest. The reason I have noticed everything written below is, because I have enjoyed playing the game so much, I have been through the story over and over again multiple times. And because of that, I have noticed some of the nit-picky details.
And I have to fill this website with something. :)
Menu bar doesn't work well with shortcut keys, only with the mouse. ALT will bring up the menu bar, but ALT-F doesn't go to the File menu. (Of course, 99% of computer users wouldn't know a shortcut key if it walked up and bit 'em in the ass.)

Flipping through pages in the CG Extras will sometimes start turning two pages at once.

Lots of spelling mistakes. What is it like to be comfused or uncoucious? Who is Yuka? And liver disorder is hepatic insufficiency not hipatic. Etc etc etc...

There's a few pictures of Kana where she looks older than she should be at the time it takes place. The computer vs xbox page might show a few examples.

Does Miki ever age? She looks exactly the same over a 10 year period.

What kind of bee's do the Japanese have over there? They'll chase down a fleeing human in great droves, sting them into unconsciousness when they catch them, and produce so much toxic venom it will knock you out for days on end. I was almost surprised they didn't fly Taka and Kana back to the hive as well.
Update: I've since received more then a few emails about the Asian Giant Hornet - the world's largest hornet, native to Eastern Asian. The Wikipedia entry says about 70 people per year in Japan die from these things. I guess we can assume that Taka ticked off a bunch of Vespa mandarinia then.

Would a nurse really piggy-back a guy into the men's restroom, say "Okay, take it off. Hurry up!" and force him into the stall.... and then join him in the stall?

If Masa got married when he was 19, he would have been married while the storyline was still going. A wedding scene would have been neat.

''I was worried about you. You didn't come to school for a week. Our teacher just told us you got injured in the mountains and were hospitalized. I was wondering if you tried to kill yourself because of that incident..., but I'm relieved. You're back in school now. I was worried about you more than anyone in our class.''Can a 10-year old 5th grade girl actually grow breasts? Yumi's body must mature as fast as Kana's body grows slow.

If Kana has such poor vision that she can not see down 5 floors, why is she not wearing glasses?

What the heck kind of Teacher's Lounge is that at the Middle School? Are those bottles of Sake and an ashtray I see?

So Yuta has the state record for the track team... What state, Michigan? I though this was in Japan.

Graduation is over and everybody is gone... but the school bell rings and Yuta has to go to class?

Do you think Miki and Queen Mikiko are related? (Well they do practically have the same name, and Queen Mikiko picks Taka to sit with instead of any other boy.)

At Yumi's house, if Taka can't even wait to take Yumi upstairs, then where did the bedsheets come from?

Taka apparently stores chairs in his bedroom closest.

According to Miki, Taka's eye color changes when it comes to Kana. That's a neat trick.

Apparently your HLA blood type can go from miss match 1 to miss match 0 if the doctors daughter makes it happen. Yumi must have manually altered the antigens on each of Kana's white blood cells - ah the wonders of modern medicine. (Determined by the 'Ask Yumi for help' and 'Think by myself' choices)

In endings 5 and 6, Kana donates her liver to Cana. When Ogasa and Taka are debating, Ogasa tells Taka that the liver is going to a relative of Kana. That relative is Cana. Cana's mother, Sumanko, is Taka's father's sister. Kana was adopted from a friend so how can they (Kana and Cana) be related? contributed by Ryan MacLeod

Taka has a heated debate with Ogasa about Kana being an organ donor and having her liver transplanted into Cana, who has hepatic insufficiency. Except during ending 5 and 6 it says Cana got Kana's kidney instead. Whoops, wrong organ!. (This is why doctors have insurance.)
How's that for going from bad to worse?

During the 1st ending, you see the only full screen shot of Taka, but he sure looks young. Looks younger than even Yuta who is two years his Junior.

Taka has found his goal in life, but rather than let us know what it is he would rather play '20 questions' with us. Let's see... what degree needs 3 years of teaching and librarian courses? (Librarian courses???)

Did you know?

The song "The White Season" played during the intro is not the same as the one accessed from the 'Listen to Music' menu. The version played from the sound menu is the extended version and is a full 5 minutes long.

The opening scene shows two CG pictures that are never seen during the game. One is the first kissing picture and the other is Kana standing in the rain. They are pictures that were probably never included because there was no way to fit them into the storyline.

Got some info that mentions a Japanese manga, 'Love Hina,' has characters loosely based somewhat on Kana Todo. That, or vice versa. (Haven't verified this as fact yet, I am just copying info) Details I got were: Love Hina has a character with a name very similar to Kana, and a similar brother/sister relationship. The comparisons are eerie. contributed by Noriko Hori
I went out and bought the first few Love Hina comic novels. I must say, it's hard to put down, I can see myself buying the rest of them. It's comedy though, not drama. And the story is as far from Kana Little Sister as you can get. If there is a relation between the two stories it's only between those character attributes.

Taka and Kana make an appearance in another G-Collections game, Crescendo. If you make the right choices, and follow the correct path, you'll get to see how Taka's book, 'Look at Life,' influences the big screen of the world of Crescendo. For that one part, it's like playing a slice of Kana Little Sister all over again. When it happens the musical tracks 'I Can't Live Without Her' and 'For you -music box-' from Kana -Little Sister- play, it is all very nostalgic. Oddly enough, the Kana music is not in Crescendo's Extra/Music section. Both Taka and Kana have their own voices too, in case you have ever wondered what they would have sounded like.
If you keep your eye out you can even see a Kana Imouto poster tacked to the school bulletin board. Perhaps there are other Kana Easter Eggs I might have even missed...
