1. All exhibitors must have their animals in place by Tuesday,
July 18, 9:00 p.m. C.D.S.T., except hogs, home economics, and
light horses (see department). Livestock (open class only) will
be released from 11 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday. All other
Livestock will not be released until after 6:00 p.m. Sunday. All
exhibits other than livestock may not be removed until after 7:00
p.m. on Sunday, July 23, except the first show of floriculture
and horticulture which will be released Friday, July 21, after
7:00 p.m. All trade exhibits will be in place until 9:00 on Sunday
evening. Any exhibitors failing to comply with the above rule
will forfeit his premiums won during the Fair. All livestock must
be off the grounds by Monday evening following the closing of
the Fair.
2. No entry of livestock will be allowed to unload until the health
certificates have been properly checked by the Superintendent
and pens assigned. See page 4 (Exhibition Livestock Health Requirements
for 2000). Registration papers for pure breed swine must accompany
them to the scale.
3. All entries must be in the hands of the Secretary of the Fair
July 2, 2000.
4. Exhibitors will be limited to two monies in any one class except
special ruling by department.
5. Each exhibitor in the open classes will be furnished one additional
helpers ticket for each 7 cattle; 8 sheep.
6. Each exhibitor is responsible for his own feeding equipment
and straw and must keep his pens and exhibits in good order. Premiums
will be withheld from any exhibitor failing to keep his pens in
a presentable manner.
7. The fair reserves the right to refuse permission for the entry
to show, if the entry is not considered worthy of merit.
8. Special additional premiums by Breed Associations are offered,
but are subject to final approval of the respective associations.
9. Classes without competition may be combined at the discretion
of the superintendents.
10. All entries must be accompanied by check or money order for
entry and stall fees. Exhibitors desiring to enter animals in
the Open Class which are also entered in 4-H competition must
pay an entry fee for each Open Class entry.
11. All exhibitors must be prepared to parade their livestock
subject to the call of the Superintendent of each division. Any
refusal shall automatically forfeit their premiums won by this
entry. All Premiums of exhibitors will be forfeited if livestock
leaves before permission is granted by the Department Superintendent.
12. The interpretation of all rules concerning the Fair shall
rest entirely with the Fair and its decision shall be final.
13. Watchman shall be provided by the Kane County Fair to guard
exhibits, but it cannot be held responsible for the personal loss
or injury from fire, theft, or any other cause during the duration
of the Fair.
14. The Fair gates will be open to the public at 7:00 a.m. daily.

15. The applications for renting concession space or exhibit space
either outdoors or in the general exhibition area should be made
to the Kane County Fair, P.O. Box 467, St. Charles, Illinois 60174.

16. Service trucks will be allowed in the grounds until 11:00
a.m. and between 4:00 p.m.and 5:00 p.m.
17. Assignments of stalls and pens will be made by the department
superintendents and all exhibitors are expected to comply with
such assignments. Stall and pen fees are paid on all open class
exhibits.
18. Fair grounds are located on Randall Road between Route 64
and Route 38 in St. Charles.
19. Free admission tickets are given to all 4-H boys and 4-H girls
of Kane County who exhibit at the Fair, Department Superintendents
and assistants, Press and Radio. Concessionaires receive one general
admission ticket. Concessionaires will be charged $100.00 per
cut-in on electricity and a $12 per day house trailer parked on
grounds. Trade exhibitors receive four season passes.
20. Parents of livestock exhibitors will be allowed to unload
livestock exhibits up to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18th, without
an admission ticket.
21. All trade people and contractors employeessuch
as ice men, ice cream trucks, bread trucks, etc., must secure
a season pass.
22. Judges will receive a free season pass.
23. $2 daily parking is available in the Fairs parking lots
west and north of grounds.
24. Premium checks not picked up (at fair office) by Sunday night
will be forfeited.
25. All exhibitors shall confine their activities to their booths
and not to exceed three feet in front of their booths.
26. No refunds for any livestock deemed not to qualify or associated
pen/stall fees.
27. All cattle must be washed on wash rack.
28. No animals are to be released from the fairgrounds until all
sale animals have been accounted for and superintendents
permission given.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Health Certificate or Certificate of Veterinary Inspection
The term health certificate or certificate of
veterinary inspection means a legible record, made on an
official form of the state of origin, issued by an accredited
veterinarian, which shows that the animals listed thereon meet
the health requirements of the state of destination.
A health certificate must:
1. Accompany animals (EXCEPT Illinois goats, Illinois equidae,
Illinois steers, Illinois calves less than 6 months of age, Illinois
sheep, and animals in terminal classes if isolated from other
livestock), and be available on request by Animal Health Officials;
2. Show results of required tests and/or vaccinations;
3. Show name and address of owner or exhibitor.
4. Be dated and signed by an accredited veterinarian; and
5. Show only one identification per line on the health certificate.
Note: No corrections or additions will be allowed on a health
certificate.
Animals with active lesions of ringworm with resulting loss of
hair, or multiple warts easily visible without close examination,
will not be permitted to exhibit. Animals infested with scabies
or mange will not be permitted to exhibit.
Department personnel may collect blood, tissue or urine samples
from any animal being exhibited and/or raced at any Illinois fair
to test for the presence of illegal drugs.
All exhibitors of animals at any Illinois fair or exhibition shall
comply with the provisions of the Illinois Humane Care for Animals
Act. If violations are observed, the animal(s) will be excused
from exhibition and be ordered removed from the grounds with all
awards being forfeited.
Any practice or deviation from normal accepted care, including
physical, medical or mechanical application, other than on the
prescription of a licensed veterinarian, will constitute a violation
of show rules and are subject to the above provisions.
CATTLE
OUT-OF-STATE CATTLE Accompanied by health certificate issued
within 30 days prior to exhibition, showing individual identification
of each animal by a fully healed and legible tattoo, official
metal tag, or registration number, or individual brands, if brand
is recorded on the registration certificate.
Tuberculosis:
All cattle, including steers, must originate from accredited tuberculosis-free
herd, OR a tuberculosis accredited-free state, OR individual animals
negative to tuberculin test within 60 days prior to exhibition.
Brucellosis:
1. Applies to females 6 months of age and over and bulls 18 months
of age and over:
a. Negative brucellosis test conducted at a state or federal laboratory
within 30 days
prior to exhibition, OR
b. Animals originated from a Class Free state (if
entire state is so classified); OR
c. Animal originated from a certified brucellosis-free herd, were
included in last
test, and certified herd number and date of last test are shown
on health certificate, OR
d. Officially vaccinated heifers of the dairy breeds under 20
months of age and officially vaccinated heifers of the beef breeds
under 24 months of age are not required to be tested if health
certificate shows record of vaccination.
2. Steers are not required to be tested for brucellosis.
3. Female cattle in terminal market classes are not required to
be tested for brucellosis; provided, they are not commingled with
breeding animals being exhibited.
ILLINOIS CATTLE All cattle, except steers and calves less
than 6 months of age are to be accompanied by a health certificate*
issued within 90 days prior to exhibition, showing individual
identification of each animal by a fully healed and legible tattoo,
official metal tag, or registration number, or individual brands,
if brand is recorded on the registration certificate.
Tuberculosis: Illinois is an Accredited Tuberculosis-Free State.
Tuberculin test is not required for Illinois cattle.
Brucellosis: Illinois is an Bovine Brucellosis Class-Free State.
Brucellosis testing is not required for Illinois cattle.
SWINE
OUT-OF-STATE SWINE Accompanied by an entry permit number
and a health certificate issued within 30 days prior to exhibition.
Swine shall be individually identified by ear tag, tattoo or recognized
breed ear notch. Ear notch identification is acceptable for barrows,
crossbred gilts and breeding swine. Health certificate shall show:
Pseudorabies:
1. Breeding swine of all ages to be negative to an official test
for pseudorabies con-ducted within 30 days prior to exhibition;
OR that the swine originated from a qualified pseudorabies negative
herd and the qualified pseudorabies negative herd number and date
of last qualification test are listed on the health certificate.
2. Barrows or females in terminal market classes* must meet the
same test requirements as breeding swine if these classes are
held exhibits not intended for slaughter. When terminal
classes are held on a day when no other livestock are present,
these animals are exempt from all test requirements of breeding
swine and do not need a health certificate. The pens occupied
by such animals may be used only for slaughter animals during
the 30 days following cleaning and disinfecting.
Brucellosis:
1. Breeding swine, 4 months of age and over, to be negative to
an official test for bru-cellosis within 30 days prior to exhibition;
OR that brucellosis-free herd and validated herd number and date
of last validation test are listed on health certificate, OR originate
from a validated brucellosis-free state. Swine brucellosis tests
for exhibition shall be conducted at a state or federal laboratory
2. Barrows or females in terminal market classes* must meet the
same test requirements as breeding swine if these classes are
held in conjunction with other livestock exhibits not intended
for slaughter. When terminal classes are held on a day when no
other livestock are present, these animals are exempt from all
test requirements of breeding swine and do not need a health certificate.

ILLINOIS SWINE Accompanied by health certificate issued
within 90 days prior to exhibition. Swine shall be individually

Any member of the porcine (swine) family must comply with the
above mentioned provisions, as to a health certificate, an entry
permit number for out-of-state swine, individual identification,
and the necessary tests.
*All swine in terminal classes must be identified by an official swine tattoo (Tattoo: conforming to the six-character alphanumeric National Tattoo System, that provides a unique identification for each herd.) Tattooes of at least 4-characters must be used before being shipped to slaughter. Each county fair are required to maintain records for at least 2 years on the following information: 1) the official swine tattoo applied to the swine; 2) Any other approved identification appearing on the swine; 3) The owners name and complete mailing address; and 4) The name and complete mailing address where the identification was applied.
Swine from pseudorabies quarantined herds ARE NOT ALLOWED to
exhibit regardless of whether or not the show is terminal or non
terminal.
GOATS
OUT-OF-STATE GOATS Accompanied by health certificate issued
within 60 days prior to exhibition showing identification by ear
tattoo, metal or plastic ear tag or other positive identification.
The issuing veterinarian shall certify that he/she observed the
flock of origin and found the goats free from visible evidence
of any infectious, contagious or communicable disease. Goats from
a flock with a laboratory diagnosis of scrapie are not permitted
to exhibit.
ILLINOIS GOATS Health certificates will not be required
for Illinois goats. It is expected that the health certificates
will be replaced by additional physical observation of the goats
at the fairgrounds by fair personnel at time of entry. Goats,
including dairy goats, with any or all of the following conditions
shall not be exhibited and must be removed immediately from the
exhibition area:
1) Lesions of contagious ecthyma (sore mouth),
2) Active lesions of ringworm with resulting loss of hair,
3) Caseous lymphadenitis as evidenced by draining abscesses.
SHEEP
OUT-OF-STATE SHEEP Accompanied by health certificate issued
within 60 days prior to exhibition, showing identification by
ear tattoo, metal or plastic ear tag or other positive identification.
The issuing veterinarian shall certify that he/she observed the
flock of origin and found the sheep free from visible evidence
of any infectious, contagious or communicable disease. Sheep from
a flock with a laboratory diagnosis of scrapie are not permitted
to exhibit.
ILLINOIS SHEEP Health certificates will not be required
for Illinois origin sheep. It is expected that the health certificates
will be replaced by additional physical observation of the sheep
at the fairgrounds by fair personnel for visible evidence of infectious,
contagious or communicable disease. Sheep from a flock with a
laboratory diagnosis of scrapie are not permitted to exhibit.
All wethers must be slick shorn before weigh-in so that show lamb
fungus can be identified.
Any animal which shows lesions of contagious ecthyma (sore mouth)
or active lesions of ringworm with resulting loss of hair may
not be exhibited and must be removed from the exhibition area.
The Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act prohibits physical mistreatment
of animals. The use of electrical shock, OR manual striking of
sheep, OR withholding feed and water are considered violations
of this Act. The presence of any type of equipment to induce electrical
shock in the exhibition area will be considered as intent to inflict
electrical shock on animals under care of the person with the
equipment. Persons found mistreating sheep shall be prohibited
from exhibiting and be dismissed from the fairgrounds.
HORSES, PONIES, MULES AND OTHER EQUINE
ILLINOIS EQUINE (horses, ponies, mules, etc.) (Exhibition
and Race) Equine 12 MONTHS AND OLDER participating in an advertised
equine event (Advertised equine event means a show,
rodeo, sale, auction, exhibition, trail ride, or horse fair, that
is posted or media promoted) shall be accompanied by a NEGATIVE
TEST FOR Equine Infectious Anemia (E.I.A.) Coggins or CELISA conducted
WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR. A health certificate (Certificate of Veterinary
Inspection) is not required for Illinois Equine.
OUT-OF-STATE EQUINE (horses, ponies, mules, etc) (Exhibition
and Race) Equine entering Illinois will be required to be accompanied
by a HEALTH CERTIFICATE (Certificate of Veterinary Inspection)
ISSUED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF ENTRY and equine 12 MONTHS AND OLDER
MUST HAVE A NEGATIVE TEST FOR Equine Infections Anemia (E.I.A.)
(Coggins or CELISA) WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS.
LLAMAS
There are no requirements governing movement of llamas within
or into Illinois.
POULTRY
1. All entries (except waterfowl, i.e., domesticated fowl that
normally swim, such as ducks and geese) in a show or exhibition
shall have originated from a U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean or equivalent
hatchery or flock; OR have a negative pullorum-typhoid test within
90 days prior to exhibition. Exhibitor shall show proper information
as to name and address of the owner or exhibitor, name and address
of the authorized testing agent, date of the testing; also, the
number, breed and species of those tested.
2. Prior to being used to transport poultry to a show, all crates,
boxes, containers and vehicles should be thoroughly cleaned and
disinfected.
3. Any poultry vaccinations must be performed at least 4 weeks
prior to delivery to show.
4. Upon admission to a show, all entries shall be examined by
the official county fair veterinarian or qualified state personnel
who shall also receive and examine all certificates necessary
for admission of birds to a show. Birds not in show condition
will be excused from exhibition and removed from the premises.
Any fowl showing signs of illness during the fair will be removed
from the exhibition grounds.
5. A list of entries of poultry or other fowl must be compiled
for the show by the show secretary. Entries must be made on Form
P-2 and shall include name, address, telephone number and total
number of poultry entered (not rabbits or pigeons). It is recommended
that Form P-2 be signed by the show superintendent prior to the
judging of poultry. Forms and instructions for compiling the entry
list will be mailed to the secretary of each poultry show by the
Division of Animal Industries.
Note: These poultry exhibition health requirements do not apply
to 4-H and FFA
1-day poultry shows where entries are taken to the show and returned
home the same day, unless the entries are in Division I fairs
with state premiums being paid as recorded in the Annual Recapitulation
of the Reports of the Agricultural and Industrial Fairs Receiving
Aid from the state of Illinois. When the exhibition requirements
do not apply, the entries are not inspected by an official county
fair veterinarian or qualified state personnel.
Exhibition health requirements do not apply to pigeons or rabbits
in any show.
RATITES
(Ostriches, Emus, Rheas, Cassowaries and Kiwis)
ILLINOIS RATITES There are no requirements governing movement
of Illinois ratites within Illinois.
OUT OF STATE RATITES Accompanied by an entry permit number
and health certificate issued within 30 days. Ratites shall be
individually identified by leg band or microchip. All ratites
must have a negative test for Avian Influenza within 10 days prior
to entry.
CERVIDAE
(Deer, Elk, Reindeer, Caribou, Moose, Red Deer, and Other Related
Species)
ILLINOIS CERVIDAE There are no requirements governing movement
of cervidae within Illinois.
OUT-OF-STATE CERVIDAE All cervidae (deer and elk) entering
Illinois shall be accompanied by a health certificate issued within
30 days of importation and meet the following:
1. A permit number (217/782-4944) for all cervidae with the number
of animals, name and address of consignor and the name and complete
mailing address of consignee.
2. All cervidae must be individually identified by ear tag, microchip,
or tattoo. The unique identification must be listed on the health
certificate.
3. The issuing veterinarian shall certify that he/she observed
the herd of origin and found the cervidae to be free of visible
evidence of any contagious, infectious or communicable disease.
TUBERCULOSIS REQUIREMENTS:
All cervidae 12 months of age or over, shall be negative to two
(2) single cervical tests for bovine TB no less than 90 days apart
with the second test conducted within 90 days prior to entry and
were isolated from all other members of the herd during the testing
period unless they originated from an accredited, qualified or
monitored herd:
1. Cervidae from an accredited herd may be moved into Illinois
without further TB testing provided they are accompanied by a
certificate stating that such cervids originated from an accredited
herd.
2. Cervids originating from qualified or monitored herd may enter
with a negative test within 90 days prior to entry and a certificate
stating that the animals originate from a monitored herd.
BRUCELLOSIS REQUIREMENTS:
Elks 6 months of age or older need a negative brucellosis card
or PCFIA test within 60 days prior to entry.

The numbers listed below correspond to the numbers on the sample
form. All blocks Must Be Completed!
1. Name (owner and farm name) and complete mailing address.
2. Name of show. (i.e. Illinois State Fair, various county fairs,
etc.)
3. Number of animals in shipment MUST BE LISTED and CORRESPOND
TO THE NUMBER OF ANIMALS LISTED BELOW.
4. Mark (X) a species (more than one species may be listed).
5. Mark (X) the purpose of movement.
6. Herd or Flock Status. List the herd number for the appropriate
species when applicable.
6a. Last test date. List the last test date for the herd number
listed.
7. Record any vaccines and/or treatment to an animal and the withdrawal
time.
8. LIST ALL FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION! When an animal has more than
one form of identification (i.e. metal eartag and an ear tattoo)
list them all.
9. Registry name. List registration numbers and names.
10. Record the age of the animal.
11. Record the sex of the animal.
12. Record the breed of the animal.
13. Test information. When testing is required for a species,
the test date, laboratory name and test results MUST BE LISTED
on the health certificate.
14. Record the calfhood vaccination symbol when applicable.
15. Date issued MUST BE COMPLETED or the health certificate WILL
NOT BE ACCEPTED.
16. Date inspected must be completed.
17. Signature of Accredited Veterinarian MUST BE COMPLETED or
the health certificate WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
NOTE: Any corrections (test information, date issued, identification,
etc.) OR any animals added to a health certificate must be done
by and signed by the issuing veterinarian. Any corrections or
animals added without the issuing veterinarians signature will
not be accepted. Veterinarians initials will not be accepted.

Artificial color added to the hair is not permitted. Animals will
be given a white towel test as they enter the show ring. Judgment
of superintendent is final.

be determined by the Superintendent.
SPECIAL HEREFORD STEER SHOW
Any Hereford Steer that was purchased from a member of the Top
Ten Hereford Association is eligible for this Class. A special
certificate must be obtained from the breeder of your calf and
presented at the time of showing to be eligible. These certificates
may be obtained by the breeder through the Top Ten Hereford Association.
No special entry is required on the Kane County Fair entry blanks.

SPECIAL SHORTHORN STEER SHOW
All steers shown in this class must have Land of Lincoln papers
or registration papers and be from Shorthorn Unlimited Breeders.
There will be one class with premiums of $100, $90, $80, $65,

Removal of center panels is prohibited.
Lambs born after September 1, may be shown in the under one year
class provided they still have their lamb teeth.
Judging will be done in accordance with breed association standards.
An exhibitor attempting to interfere with the judge during their
adjudications will be promptly excluded from competition.
Exhibitors will be limited to two entries per class.
All wethers will be weighed between 5 and 9 on Tuesday nightmust
be slick shorn.
OLD FLOCK: 1 ram, any age, 2 yearling ewes, 2 ewe lambs.
PEN OF 3 LAMBS: Rams and ewes in any combination. Both sexes must
be represented. No wethers.
Ewe lambs may not be shown in wether classes.
All sheep must be properly groomed and presented to receive premiums.
Animals to compose a competitive group need to be entered in individual
classes and kept in the same age classes throughout the show.
If an early dismissal is to be honored, because of another Fair,
the information must be supplied at the time of making entries.
An early dismissal will automatically reduce the premium earned
by 50%.

This show is sanctioned by the American Dairy Goat Association
and their rules shall govern. The Junior Doe Show is separately
sanctioned from the Senior Doe Show.
The original registration certificate is required for all animals
six months of age or older and this must be shown to the superintendent
before the start of the show. The original registration certificate
or duplicate application stamped by the A.D.G.A. office is required
for all animals under 6 months of age and this must be shown to
the Superintendent before the start of the show. No copies of
these documents will be accepted. Registration papers will be
checked on arrival.
Animals must be in place on Tuesday, July 18. They must remain
in place until released Saturday, July 22, after 11 p.m.
Pre-milkout of Does will be 8:00 p.m., July 20 (Thursday) under
the supervision of the show Superintendent.
No horned animals or males will be allowed on the grounds.
No more than two monies per exhibitor will be awarded per class.
Animals will be judged on Friday, July 21 at 8:00 a.m.
No animals with draining sores or evidence of recent ringworm
activity will be allowed in the barn.
Please refer to 2000 Exhibitor Livestock Health Requirements at
the beginning of this book. All animals are subject to rejection
from the show for unhealthy condition at the discretion of the
show Superintendent.

Official Rules of Milking Competition
Wednesday and Thursday, July 19 and 20, 2000
This show is sanctioned by the ADGA and their rules shall govern.
Does must be registered or recorded in the American Dairy Goat
Association, the American Goat Society, or the Canadian Goat Society,
and proof of such registration or recordation must be shown. Doe
must be identified by tattoo and the tattoo information must be
part of her official record in the ADGA office at the time of
test. Only one prize money per exhibitor per class. Owners who
want to save milk shall furnish a container to be kept away from
milking area.
The owner shall certify to the Superintendent in charge and to
ADGA the fact that the goat has not within 10 days of date of
test received milk, thyroprotein or any toxic condition powder
which states on the label that it will increase any milk production.
This certificate shall be made out and signed by the owner in
the presence of the Superintendent at the time the animal is brought
into the barn.
Goats entered in milking competition shall be on the show ground
the evening before and shall be milked dry and stripped dry under
supervision of the official tester 24 hours before the hour set
for the final milking in the competition. All animals entered
must be in place by 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 18th. Milkout will be
7:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 19th and Thursday, July 20th, 2000.
Written proof must be furnished in case of emergency.
Animals arriving late will be milked out upon arrival at the show
under the same supervision of the official milkout. There shall
be two milkings for the competition. Anticipated time of milking
is 7:00 p.m., and period of time since last kidding and for butterfat
as follows:
a. For each pound of milk, one pint figured to 1 decimal.
b. For each complete ten days the goat has been in milk since
last kidding one tenth .1 of a point, with maximum of 3.6 points.
c. For each .05 pounds of butterfat yielded in the milkings, one
point.
d. Any goat that received 18 points will be awarded a Star Milker
certificate. Premiums offered in milking competition:

and ready for inspection by 10:00 a.m. Only wood shavings will
be allowed for bedding. Failure to comply with the request will
result in forfeiture of premium money earned. All pigs must be
farrowed on or after January 1, 2000. Registration papers for
pure bred swine must accompany them to the scale. Market hogs
must weigh a minimum of 220 lbs; production hogs must weigh a
minimum of 200 lbs. No pigs over 299 lbs.
Classes will be weighed and divided so that there will be no more
than 10 entries per class. Exhibitors will be permitted 2 entries
per weight class. Weighing will be Tuesday, July 18 as unloaded,
but not before noon.

Exhibitors are requested to bring containers for food and water
for all waterfowl.
All birds are examined by department personnel who shall also
receive and examine all certificates necessary. In case of sickness,
the birds will be rejected.
Standard of perfection will be the guide in awarding premiums,
except in the case of Cross Hybrids. Awards will be made by comparison
by a competent licensed A.P.A. or A.B.A. judge. All birds disqualified
will not be awarded a prize. All exhibitors are requested to be
present or have a representative present at the time of judging.
Production pen shall consist of three young males in the meat
production class and three young females in the egg production
class. Birds in individual entries may not be shown in pen entries
and pen entries cannot be shown in individual entries. The terms
cock, cockerel, hen, and pullet are defined as follows: Cock,
male bird hatched prior to January 1, 2000; cockerel, a male bird
hatched since January 1, 2000; hen, a female bird hatched prior
to January 1, 2000; pullet, a female bird hatched since January
1, 2000. In the case of waterfowl, old refers to birds hatched
prior to January 1, 2000, and young refers to birds hatched since
January 1, 2000. Waterfowl classes may be consolidated by the
Superintendent where the number of entries does not warrant separate
classes.
No cards or distinguishing marks will be allowed on the coops
or birds until after awards are made.
The association will not be responsible for accidents or loss
by fire, heat, theft, or malicious intent.

Classes can be determined the day of the show, when fees are paid
in advance. Two separate Shows will be held in certain classes
as indicated in the premium list.
One show will be held July 21, 22 ,23 and the second July 23,
24. General regulations will apply on both shows but time of entering
and releasing will differ.
Please note carefully. Hay and grain will have but the one show
and those entries must remain in place throughout the Fair. All
entries must be grown by the exhibitor.
All entries must be grown in 2000 except ear corn, shelled corn
and soybeans which may be 1999 crop. Each exhibitor will be limited
to a maximum of two exhibits in any one number. No premiums will
be awarded for incomplete displays or inferior specimens. Uniform
containers will be provided unless otherwise specified. Items
in one class, or one show, cannot also be entered in another class,
or the second show.

Important Notice: Two separate shows will be held in this divisionthe

Specimen blooms must be exhibited with their own foliage attached
to stems. Specimens should be free of insect spray residue.

EXHIBIT RULES AND INFORMATION
Use paper plates for food exhibits, small ones where possible.
MUST be displayed in clear plastic, Ziploc bags.
Must be made from scratch do not use commercial mix.
BREAD EXHIBIT - MINI LOAF, size 5-3/4 x 3-1/4 x 2,
foil pan size. Bread must be loose from pan so it may be easily
taken out for judging. A 6" paper plate must be with exhibit.
Foil pan not required for display. Must all be in clear plastic
Ziploc bag.
Cake exhibit - 1/4 cake.
Coffee Cake exhibit - 4" wedge.
Cookie exhibit - 6 cookies.
Bar Cookie exhibit - Four, 2 cookies, unfrosted unless specified.
PIE EXHIBIT - MUST be double crust, bake and exhibit in 5
foil pan, No Cream Filling.

to the secretary of the Kane County Fair, P.O. Box 467, St. Charles,
Illinois. Each exhibitor must purchase an exhibitors pass
for $15.00 which entitles admittance to the Fair and first 10
entries. Additional entries $.50. Free parking (For Exhibitors)
is available east of the Home Economics building.
Exhibitors may enter only one entry in each number class, only
one will be accepted.
Exhibits may be accepted Tuesday, July 18 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.

must be called for after 7:00 p.m. and before 8:00 p.m. on Sunday,

Kane County Fair 4-H Club Show
4-H is the youth development program of the University of Illinois
Cooperative Extension Service jointly conducted by the United
States Department of Agriculture, land grant universities and
county sponsoring groups.
A 4-H club is a group of boys and girls learning and having fun
together while under the leadership of an adult volunteer.
The 4-H program is open to any boy or girl between the ages of
8-18 or in the third grade, as of September 1, 1999, regardless
of race, color, sex, nationality or geographical residence.

While every care and precaution is being exercised, the sponsoring
organizations cannot be responsible for loss or damage to property,
to exhibitors, nor injury to individuals or livestock, or for
theft or accident.
Kane County 4-H Club Show
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All exhibitors must be regularly enrolled in 4-H by May 1st.
Only projects listed on
the enrollment records may be shown. All exhibits must be completed
by the 4-Her during the current year beginning Sept. 1,
1999. (Refer to specific departments for livestock ownership dates).
2. Entries are required for all classes. All entries must be listed
on the County Fair 4-H REGISTRATION FORM (available from the club
contact leader) and must be submitted to the 4-H office by June
23.
3. Exhibits will be judged against a set of standards for each
project. JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL. Ribbons will be awarded according
to the following levels of achievement:
Blue Award - Project meets the standards
Red Award - Project needs improvement
White Award - Project needs much improvement
4. Class Champion Ribbons will be selected from exhibits in the
BLUE AWARD group, if merited. Other Special Awards(unless noted
otherwise) will be selected from Class Champion winners, only,
if merited.
5. Exhibitors are limited to one entry per class, except livestock
market classes which are allowed two (2).
6. Due to State Allocations there is NO guarantee as to the amount
of premium money paid per exhibit.
7. Conference judging is mandatory for ALL exhibits. In the event
a project cannot be conferenced judged (only exceptions: 1. out
of town; 2. illness; 3. family emergency) the 4-Her must
contact the 4-H office in writing and a summary of material learned
will be required. (Summary may be written, audio, or video, should
show at least 3 new things learned.)
8. If 4-H exhibits are checked in late or do not comply with the
exhibit requirements, the standards have not been met, and the
exhibit will be lowered one rating by the judges. (with exception
to livestock exhibits)
9. Release time for exhibits: 4-H exhibits will be released on
Sunday 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. (The Extension Service is not responsible
for projects not picked up on Sunday.)
10. State Fair Eligibility: 4-H members must be 10 years old by
September 1, 1999 to show an exhibit at the State Fair. Only one
non-livestock project may be shown with the exception of dogs
and the bicycle rodeo.
11. 4-H members wishing to exhibit in the OPEN class must comply
with the Kane County Fair Board governing those classes.
12. Interpretation of the rules and regulations is the responsibility
of the 4-H Fair Committee. Exhibitors and those seeking privileges

4-H office on or before Monday, following the fair.
14. Failure to comply with any of the rules may be sufficient
cause to forfeit all premiums by the exhibitor.

fair information will be printed in the 4-H Fair Newsletter.

the 4-H (Industrial) building and sign up to have pictures taken
prior to Friday, 6:00 p.m. All pictures must be taken by 10:00
