Field of Dreams

Screenplay by Phil Alden Robinson
Directed by Phil Alden Robinson
A magical slice of Americana; Frank Capra would be proud of this one.  Getting an opportunity to play catch with your father again; and then the sight of those miles of headlights coming to this baseball field—heaven. The symbolism, especially for me, is poignant: baseball bridges the gap between generations and in this case, also bridges the gap between life and death. As far as I’m concerned, Terrance Mann’s (James Earl Jones) speech about baseball should be required viewing. If this movie doesn’t affect you, check your pulse.
