The Green Mile

Screenplay by Frank Darabont
Directed by Frank Darabont
The power of this film, especially in the movie theater (where movies are meant to be seen), is so palpable and disturbing. When an execution goes horribly wrong, I briefly considered walking out of the theater—and I never have considered that before or since. Thankfully, I stayed the course and experienced this powerhouse of a film, and that’s properly stated. You do "experience" this one. Think about the symbolism in this film, and once you do and consider the director’s other film, The Shawshank Redemption, you’ll have to conclude that director Durabont had some religious teaching somewhere in his life.
