| I’ve seen this film a lot, but never on a large screen. Until now. What I was struck with and never appreciated before was the exceptional acting of Anthony Perkins. Through his subtle and brilliant performance, we empathize and even come to feel sorry for Norman Bates, a character name that will live in infamy. Some of Janet Leigh’s scenes—on the bed with her lover and in a bra—were risqué for their time. Notice how Hitchcock has the color of her bras change from white to black in the story as her character changes. If you owned a motel with a peephole in 1960 and Janet Leigh—oh, never mind. | |||
