In or around 1990, Dale's brother-in-law discovered a litter of three very young, mother-less kittens in the woods. Two kittens were adopted-out and found homes; one kitten was kept and became Dale's pet. This orphaned, loveable cat was named Sheba.
Sheba often slept at the bottom of Dale's bed; enjoyed staring out the window at the snow falling or the birds eating; enjoyed following and playing with "sparky" —a laser pointer; loved to be brushed; and loved to go outdoors in her enclosed cat pen.

She hated loud noises: a thunderstorm, a firecracker, and the monthly nuclear power plant test siren sent her running and hiding, and she sure had panther-like quickness.

Sheba and her memory live on, forever.
