Pioneer of a New Fine Art Painting Medium
I have discovered, looking back, that I have been extremely emotional
and passionate all my life. I have experienced nature a lot and found many good
emotions, feelings, or spirits in nature which suggested who we are ("we" meaning
the mountains, trees, water, rocks and I relating together). I have found emotions
such as exploration, peace ( as in a quiet pool), faith, courage, renewal, healing,
passion ( as in a waterfall), power, or a feeling of oneness ( as in a rock). As a boy,
I played, swam, floated and fished in a river and lived with it. Now my painting, "Cast
in Right Here" has a slimy rock in it that has the color and texture that gives the
impression of that closeness with the river I had. Each of these paintings are
not what I saw, but they are the poetry of what we are, and what we feel as we
experience these places.
This fine art is expressive realism.
These paintings not only have the feelings of the natural spirit of
each place but they have my emotions of passion, sensitivity and excitement.
My paintings go beyond renderings or documentation. I document all the feelings
and spirit of one special place as I experience it, then paint, over a period of
months or years, all the poetry and impressions that were there too. The way I
feel looking around the painting is the same as all of the emotions I had looking
at all the actual elements of the place. I firmly believe that the supreme artist
is the Creator Himself and that the best painting would represent the whole gift
that He intended with that view. Photos don't capture all the impressions as they were in reality in relation to the entire place.
When my paintings are 30 to 44 inches wide they create a sense of really being there.
Traditional painting limitations:
Traditional painting doesn't capture the variety of impressions that make the
complete poem I lived as I experienced the place. I have discovered a way to paint with
real brushes and canvas in the the virtual reality environment of the computer that gives
me complete control over all elements of the painting, such as color, balance, line, value,
texture, form , and space: and over all principles of the painting such as harmony, unity,
movement, repetition, proportion, rhythm, contrast, emphasis, design, and composition.
The best of four professional disciplines are all mixed into one new fine art
painting medium:
1. Photography
2. Digital fine art in the computer
3. Traditional original painting with oil, watercolor, or acrylic, etc.
4. Original printing techniques ( such as etchings, stone lithography, and now Giclée).
