The base fare on Miami Dade Transit's MetroRail (and MetroBus) is $1.50. You must pay $1.50 each time you board MetroRail at any station. A reduced fare of 75 cents per trip is available to Medicare recipients, people with disabilities, and Miami Dade students in Grades 1-12.
For the official portions of our Fest on Tuesday 7/22, we will be entering the MetroRail three times. However, a transfer from TriRail to MetroRail is free, so you will pay a total of $3.00 for the two paid entries we will be making as a group. In addition, you might need to use MetroRail on Monday evening upon arrival in Miami, or before our departure on Wednesday morning. You might also use MetroRail on Tuesday to get to the Fest start point or from the Fest end point that evening. Also, add 50 cents for the MetroRail transfer good on TriRail.
MDT does not offer an all-day pass. However, they do sell tokens at some station fare machines at a price of $10 for 7 tokens, which brings the fare down to about $1.43 per ride. Some transit centers (located at Government Center and Civic Center stations) also will sell a roll of ten tokens for $14.50, which is $1.45 a ride.
Miami Dade Transit's MetroMover is free. When you transfer from MetroMover to MetroRail at the Brickell or Government Center stations, you must pay the $1.50 fare to enter the MetroRail paid area.
One may transfer between the MetroRail and TriRail systems at the TriRail/MetroRail Transfer shared station. The following are transfer policies between the two carriers:
As always, bring enough money to cover your meals.
