The adult fare on STM is $2.50. Senior citizens 65 and over pay $1.50, but they must have a Reduced Fare Access Card, which has to be ordered ahead of time and costs $9.25. Children ages 6-11 pay $1.50. Children 5 and under ride for free.
There is a 6-ticket strip available, for a reduced price of $11.50 adult fare, or $6.00 reduced fare (seniors over 65 or children 6-11).
STM offers a Tourist Card, which costs $9.00 for one day, or $17.00 for three consecutive days. A Tourist Card gets you unlimted travel on any STM Metro or bus line during its period of validity. It would pay for itself if we enter the system 4 or more times in one day, or 7 or more times over the course of the three consecutive days we are in Montreal. Besides our official fest trips, some of us may use Metro or buses to get to and from our hotels each day, which adds another entry to the system each time.
The Tourist Card is not sold at all stations, but it is available at most major ones, such as Berri-UQAM, Longueuil, Bonaventure, Lucien-L'Allier, Lionel-Groulx, and Snowdon.
Fare media on STM and AMT is not interchangeable.
