Our latest gathering in the New York area was the OTOL Metro New York RailFest 2003. Unlike our recent AppleFest series of events, we spent most of our time in the suburbs.
Saturday we visited Connecticut, featuring the New Canaan and Danbury branch lines of MTA/Metro North Railroad. (Unfortunately, the Waterbury Branch was closed for a 38-day period during this time for bridge and track rehabilitation.)
On Sunday, our morning activity was visiting the new Secaucus Transfer station, utilizing it for a quick Hoboken-Secaucus-New York Penn Station trip. After lunch at Penn Station, the rest of our day was a round trip out to Montauk on the MTA/Long Island Railroad.
