Twenty people were involved in what turned out to be a true winter RailFest in Philadelphia over the weekend of January 17-18, 2004. We had an excellent mix of local railfans and those who came from as far away as Idaho. Our entire itinerary was accomplished, although there were moments, particularly on Sunday, when it looked like we would hit major snags.
Despite the cold, rain, snow, slush, a closed restaurant, nature calls, and other surprises, we all had a wonderful time riding the rails for two days. Philadelphia has quite a diverse selection of transit modes to ride, and a good portion of the group participated wire-to-wire to experience everything.
A full trip report will be coming soon. In the meantime, various web pages on this site associated with Fest are being updated to reflect what actually took place. Updated post-Fest pages will have their effective dates highlighted in yellow below.
The obligatory quiz that many participants took on Saturday is also now included below, as well as the answers.
Thank you to all who came to the Fest, and for those who could not make it, but helped us out with advice, ticket purchases, etc.
