OTOL Pacific Northwest RailFest 20XX will take us to many cities in the Pacific Northwest, including Portland, OR, Tacoma, WA, Seattle, WA, and Vancouver, BC. The intended dates are Thursday, July 15 through Tuesday, July 27, 2010.
This and all future fests may be a victim of our economic situation. With my employment highly uncertain in the future, it may be difficult to find time to hold these fests as I start a new chapter in my career. While things may still work out, all specifics at this point have been removed so that people don't make irrevokable plans for something that very well may not happen.
Thursday
We begin with a trip on the Lake Shore Limited from New York to Chicago. Overnight on the train.
Friday
Arrival in Chicago. Depart on westbound EMPIRE BUILDER. Overnight on train.
Saturday
Entire day aboard EMPIRE BUILDER. Overnight on train.
Sunday
Arrive in Portland. Ride Portland Streetcar line, Portland Aerial Tram, and if time allows, Willamette Shore Trolley and Portland Vintage Trolley. Overnight in Portland.
Monday
Ride entire MAX light rail system, and WES commuter rail. Overnight in Portland.
Tuesday
Take Amtrak Cascades train from Portland to Seattle. Ride entire Central LINK to Sea-Tac Airport and back. Overnight in Seattle.
Wednesday
Ride Seattle Streetcar and Seattle Monorail. Ride Sounder to Tacoma, then Tacoma LINK. Return to Seattle on Amtrak Cascades.
Thursday
Take Amtrak Cascades to Vancouver, BC. Ride TransLink's SkyTrain automated light rail system. Overnight in Vancouver.
Friday
Complete SkyTrain system. Time for sightseeing. Take Amtrak Cascades to Seattle. Overnight in Seattle.
Saturday
Make-up day, sightseeing.
In late afternoon, board eastbound EMPIRE BUILDER. Overnight on train.
Sunday
Entire day aboard EMPIRE BUILDER. Overnight on train.
Monday
Arrive in Chicago late afternoon. Take Lake Shore Limited to New York.
Tuesday
Arrive back in New York.
After thirteen days on the rails, we are bound to have many fond memories of our time in the Pacific Northwest.
