Welcome to the Shack Cam!
The purpose of this live web cam is to provide weather images in real time from the southern part of Leavenworth County, Kansas. During severe weather, the web cam will be turned on and pointed outside my window facing west-northwest. The water tower in the background (small dot above the horizon left of center) is located about 2 miles west of here at K-32 Highway and Stillwell Road near Linwood, Kansas.
Weather spotters will find this image as a useful tool. Storm clouds in various stages, lightening, hail on the ground and movement in the trees to help determine wind speed, can all be seen.
The web cam points directly at the area where the tornado developed that hit the Kansas City area on May 4, 2003.
