Ich bin der David

I'm a long-time computer programmer. I've worked at several places, on a ton of Operating Systems, most of which are still Operating, and a couple of people copied some of my code when they went somewhere else, so whatever goes wrong almost anywhere, it could be my fault. I always seem to be getting comfortable with a new programming language (for the last couple of years its been C++, which is better than anything else that I've tried for heavy-duty work, if you stay pragmatic, but still has a lot of room for improvement).

I enjoy foreign languages and travel. I'm currently learning a few words of Bringlish, a language which has words like "twee."

Here I am, at the Cosmodemonic Computer Company. The point of this photo (photo credit to Leonard, my office mate) was to finish the roll of film.

Note to potential employers: This office has large windows on two sides. Can you match that? Can you top it, with windows that open, suitable for throwing water balloons? A balcony, suitable for talking with passers-by?

There's a lot of clutter, as usual. Note the Lucky Duck (luckiest of a box of three), and the Y2K-compliant bat. Productivity tools.

The famous half-gallon bottle of Gordon's Gin, finished after only 13 years of drinking it (I had help) is long gone (by then it had mellowed out and pretty much lost that medicinal smell characteristic of gin). Nelson Bolyard and I finished it one day while puzzling out the data corruption in a really nasty dump. In spite of its demonstrated value in finding bugs, Cosmodemonic has banned the use of gin.
