Trompe-l'Oeil in Palo Alto

(There are paintings like this, mostly unseen, all over Palo Alto.
To see them, open your eyes and look up and around.)

A sinister man with a bird on his hat started off the paintings in Palo Alto. Originally he was lurking around a corner off University Avenue, in a trench coat, realistic enough that the police got calls at night to report a suspicious character. Now he looks more prosperous, fitting the changes in Palo Alto.

Last seen edging along a building ledge behind Greater Bay Trust Company, Emerson and Lytton, best seen from Lytton, approaching Emerson.

Either this little green alien in the crashed saucer or the boy "fishing" at the Post Office must hold the record for longevity in one spot.   Side of Comerica Bank, 250 Lytton, near Emerson.

It's become an unofficial symbol for this branch of Comerica Bank.

This beautiful pelican is on the front of Greater Bay Trust Company, 400 Emerson, at Lytton.

Could be by a different artist; looks more polished, newer.

Most people walk by the entranceway of 261 Hamilton without noticing this man hack-sawing through the bars.

Boy "fishing" something from the downtown Post Office on Hamilton Avenue.
