Cool Tools

Here are a few tools that I use. Frankly I can't live without them.

After many years of using a Braun iron (the coffee pot people)  now YOU can own one too! They have been unavailable in the United States for several years now but are finally back. You can find them at Bloomingdales department stores in the house ware department. Unfortunately what I don't like about the new Braun is that they have that darn auto shut-off. So the new one might not be the one for those of us who want a hot iron all the time.

PENCIL SHARPENER

This sharpener's mechanism is from Germany to assure you a sharp, smooth point on regular size or fat pencils. It has a container attached to catch the shavings so there is no mess and you don't have to hold the pencil over a trash can while sharpening it. It's small and fits in your quilting bag perfectly! $4.50 including shipping. Order

THE HOLE PUNCH

The one, the only "1/16th-inch hole punch".  This is not the cheap lightweight type you find at stationary stores. This is a heavy duty iron tool with a heavy, high luster nickel plating. It has an opening for centering over the dots on your templates to punch reference holes for marking on your fabric patches.  $30.00 including shipping.   Order

CHALK PENCILS   

A set of 3 "fat" chalk pencils in red, blue and green! These are my favorite pencils because they go on fabric nicely, are easily brushed away and wash out CLEAN! Never mark your fabric with anything that you haven't tested first, nor should you mark any harder than you need to for you to see the lines.  $5.50 per set - including shipping. Order

THE CHALKONER (the original chalk wheel marker)

This is the little, hard to find heart shaped tool that contains powdered chalk for marking lines. It feels good in your hands, doesn't harm the fabric and the chalk lasts forever. Refills are available.  $11.00 each, including shipping.  Order

PORTABLE CUTTING TABLE FOR CLASSES: No more back strain! This is a  beautifully crafted, custom table that you can take to classes (or use at home if you don't have a cutting table at the correct height) with folding legs and a cut out hand grip for carrying. It folds flat so it's easy to transport and the top is recessed to fit the medium size Omnigrid mat which measures a true 18" x 24".  The Olfa  and Elan mats are 17" x 23" and will also fit. $70.00 plus shipping.
