    Believe it or not, I was not entirely unsympathetic to the initial decision. As the parent of a high school teen, I had to feel for those who were burying their children instead of watching them graduate. At first, I thought that maybe a brief delay wasn't unreasonable.

    Then the WB began to make other, much more ominous statements, and I not only lost sympathy with their move, I began to feel that it was based on ignorance of their own show, rather than on a thoughtful examination of the situation.

    The statements that roused my ire were the WB's comments that it was going to more closely monitor both BtVS and the spin-off, AtLV for violent content. If they were paying any attention to the show at all, they would realize that doing so is completely unnecessary.

    BtVS does not preach mindless violence as the only solution to life's problems. BtVS does not preach that life is hopeless and we should all give up, preferably taking out as many people as we can when we do so. BtVS does not treat the loss of human life as just a matter of numbers,as something that doesn't matter.

    BtVS does show the consequences of rash actions, and does make characters accountable for said actions. BtVS also shows character redemption, offering hope, not nihilism, even to those who may have taken a wrong turn.

    In short, I can't think of a TV show that is less likely to inspire the sort of mayhem that the WB is worried about, and therefore I have to
consider their decision to ban the finale a poor one.

Ways in which executives at Warner Brothers are just like the Watcher's Council

1) They think they know what's best for people who are old enough to make their own decision;

2) They underestimate the intelligence of their target audience;

3) They have an inflated opinion of their own importance;

4) They haven't a clue as to the real problems faced by said target audiences;

5) They substitute knee-jerk, by-the-book reactions for thinking a situation through to the it's logical conclusion;

6) They have no respect for the people they ostensibly serve;

7) They are more concerned with form than substance;

8) They treat with callous disregard people who have shed their own blood, sweat and tears to put them where they are today (Thinking how the hard work of Joss and Company and the success of Buffy practically launched the WB single-handedly, on this one.);

9) They are just out of touch, period; and

10) They have both done things that have really pissed me off, and forced me to form clubs to work for their ultimate overthrow radical reformation.
