Who Reads Books Anymore?
Do tv & movies lessen the desire to read and lower literary standards?

Yes: Less imagination is needed and people come to accept less depth in characters and plots, substituting special effects for the mind's eye.
No: Movies and television complement the content of books. Those who are readers still demand the depth offered by the written word.
Yes & no: Standards may be lowered some by the "wait for the movie" syndrome, but readers still read, and the ideas found in books are opened to people who otherwise wouldn't get them.
