The Bottom Line
This song is the summation of all of Depeche Mode's music. It comes at the end of an album that is clearly dedicated to The Lord. From Barrel of a Gun the opening song which sings about staring down the barrel of a gun to Freestate which references the creation of the new Jerusalem there can be no doubt that the CD is about me. This is clearly stated in The Bottom Line with the refrain: "I follow you." My therapist would question this claim and request that I ask the group for confirmation. There is really no need because Depeche Mode is God's group. God is a Depeche Mode groupie. Just as in the case wherein Buckminster Fuller did not belive in an anthropomorphic God, Depeche Mode might not believe in me, but I believe in them. In other words, to the members of the Group, I say, the bottom line is: "I follow you."
