Welcome, our History Page
described how we developed our flock of Natural
colored sheep. Here is information on some of the ones that
we have now.
Junior at 8 months Irwin 162 (Junior) looks very much like his sire, Hootie. His mother was our 1997 Missouri State Fair champion. Junior was undefeated as a ram lamb through five shows. At the Missouri State Fair, he was first place spring ram lamb. Then at the regional NCWGA show at the Tulsa State Fair, he won his class, was a member of the first place pair of ram lambs, and went on to be Reserve Champion Ram (to a yearling ram that we showed)! Mike and Diane Hellwig of Arkansas purchased half interest in Junior and have had possession of him for three breeding seasons. Junior sired some beautiful colored lambs for the Hellwigs out of both white and black ewes. As of July 1, 2002, Junior was back with us in Missouri. We used him until 2005.
Above is Junior's baby picture. Below are two photos of him at age 5 when we brought him back to Missouri. He had just been freshly shorn:
Because we have sold so many colored sheep the last several years, we'll not have any for sale in 2007or 08.
What a way to spend a winter afternoon! This is a baby picture of Junior's Half-brother, Boris. Follow this link to see some of the super wins by our customers. Here's a couple of our ewes: This is Goblin (Irwin 201) and is sired by
Mel, the huge ram that we sold to Cinderella Farm.
She was born on Halloween, 2000, thus the
name. You will notice that she is blanketed. We
tried blanketing our colored sheep for a couple of
years. However, the heat and humidity of southern
Missouri is a problem, so we do not offer covered
fleeces. It has been interesting to see how Goblin
gets progressively lighter now. In 2007 at, age 7,
she is a light silvry gray. Maxie is a yearling medium fleeced ewe out of
Mel. She is very stylish. Born in November
2000. |
