Dance

Interest in dance has dramatically increased over the past 5 years. There has been a pattern of intent revealed through this revitalization of dance. Our multi-woven American culture is beginning to embrace dance as most other cultures have, as an important part of our lives. We've seen it develop through ritual and social dance to a place of entertainment and athletics during the past century. Dance now focuses on it's roots as an "essential part of living." As nearly everything in the American culture, fusion is occuring in dance. Living Fountain sees dance developing into three clear categories: Dance to benefit the person; Dance to benefit the World; Dance to benefit our Creator.

When a person dances at any level they are gaining the benefits of regular excercise. We see this in preschoolers who have a creative movement experience scoring better in academics. The benefit of movement is present in the lives of youth and adults suffering from depression and stress. It is also a path of relief from pain for many senior adults with arthritis. Your mourning is turned to dancing!

Dancers, actors and artists of all kinds have such a unique way of touching the heart. LFDC enjoys using dance to communicate specific ideas. It is wonderful when a person's life is effected by a piece of artwork. Many observers may not be able to grasp a concept or thought until it is presented in a clear artistic manner.

Lastly, the art and depth of true worship benefits Jesus Christ. In scripture David saved the best for last when he shares the diversity with which we can worship our God. There are many people who dance about their living rooms and praise God for the meaningful things He has done in their lives. This is an intimate time for the believer. This form of dance is reserved for the Lord alone. Does this ever occur in front of a congregation of people? Yes, it does. David danced before the Lord with all his might. Don't let it be forgotten, however, that many were offended by his nakedness and honesty.

Everyone has a bit of dancer in them. An innocent foot tap, a shake and sway with the music on the radio - These show us we love to move. There is a good ratio of each category, Dance to benefit the person; Dance to benefit the World; Dance to benefit our Creator, inside every dancer. The Holy Spirit of God will guide with wisdom what focus of dance is for which moment. It is our responsibility to present ourselves for service. Romans 12:1
