Japanese Strategies for Axis and Allies Basics: Japan can make life easy for itself by placing a factory in Asia as soon as possible, allowing it to build things directly rather than transporting everything. Remember to defeat the American navy at every turn and bloody the British and the Russians as much as possible to help your German allies.

Japan in Axis and Allies should be the "Silent" partner of the Axis. Obviously, the Japanese player needs to keep the American player at bay, but the best way to do this is to not make a stink. Slowly grow in power by taking the low IPC territories in the Pacific, particularly Britain's. Control China and slowly overcome your IPC disadvantage quietly until you are unstoppable in power. I have seen this work and I have seen it fail somewhat badly against an aggressive American player, so know your opponent well before you decide to use this strategy.
