Devotion to The Divine Mercy

On October 5, 1938 a young religious by the name of Sister Faustina died in a convent of the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Cracow, Poland. On February 22, 1931, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appeared to this simple nun, bringing with Him a wonderful message of Mercy for all mankind. In 1933 God gave Sister Faustina a striking vision of His Mercy. The next day an inner voice taught her to say this prayer on ordinary rosary beads:

"First say one 'Our Father', 'Hail Mary' and 'I believe'.

Then on the large beads say the following words:

'Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.'

On the smaller beads you are to say the following words:

'For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.'

In conclusion you are to say these words three times:

'Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whold world.'''

'Jesus said later to Sister Faustina: "Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Anyone who says it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as the last hope. Even the most hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will receive grace from My infinite Mercy. I want the whole world to know My infinite Mercy. I want to give unimaginable graces to those who trust in My Mercy."

In 2001, Sister Faustina was declared a Saint and is now Saint Faustina.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

The Lord's Prayer is the most perfect of prayers... In it we ask, not only for all the things we can rightly desire, but also in the sequence that they should be desired. This prayer not only teaches us to ask for things, but also in what order we should desire them." (St. Thomas Aquinas, STh II-II, 83,9)"

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come
They will be done. On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread and
forgive us our trespasses as we forgave those who
tresspass against us and lead us not into
temptation but deliver us from evil... Amen.

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,

That never was it known that anyone,

who fled to your protection, implored your help and sought your intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother.

To you I come, before you I stand Sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,

But in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth;
and in Jesus Christ,His only Son, Our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell;
the third day, He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven,
sitteth at the right hand of God,
the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge
the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and
life everlasting. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To Thee do we cry poor banished children of Eve.
To Thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, O most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us.
And after this, our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary,
pray for us O Holy Mother of God;
that we may be made worthy of the
promises of Christ. Amen.

The Meaning of Prayer

A breath of prayer in the morning -
Means a day of blessing sure.
A breath of prayer in the evening -
Means a night of rest secure.
A breath of prayer in our weakness -
Means the clasp of a mighty hand.
A breath of prayer when we're lonely -
Means someone to understand.
A breath of prayer in rejoicing -
Gives joy and added delight.
For they that remember god's goodness -
Go singing far into the night.
There's never a year nor a season -
That prayer may not bless every hour.
And never a soul need be helpless -
When linked with God's great power.

MORNING PRAYER

O my God, I adore You, and I love You,
I thank You for having created me, having saved me by Your grace
and having preserved me during the night.
I offer You today all my prayers, works, joys, sorrows and sufferings.
Grant that they may be all according to Your will and for Your greater glory!
Today, keep me from all sin and evil, and may Your grace be with me always
and with those I love. Amen

EVENING PRAYER

O God, you have let me pass the day in peace;
Let me pass the night in peace, O Lord who has no lord. There is no strength
but in you. You alone have no obligation. Under your hand I pass the night.
You are my Mother and Father.
Amen

A PRO-LIFE PRAYER
God of All Goodness,
you have entrused us with the
gift of life. Help us to appreciate
that gift from the first
moment of conception to the
last breaths of old age. Send
your strength to all those who
defend the unborn, the weak,
and the dying against attempts
to cut short their lives. May
your Holy spirit touch the
hearts of those who are tempted
to choose the way of death
rather than life. Grant that your
people may always be a sign of
your love in the world. Amen.

The Beatitudes

(Matthew 5: 3-11)

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsley] because of me.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.

Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

MEET GOD IN THE MORNING AND HE'LL GO WITH YOU THROUGH THE DAY

-By, Helen Steiner Rice--
"The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof" -
It speaks of His greatness,
it sings of His live,
And each day at dawning
I lift my heart high
And raise up my eyes
to the infinite sky...
I watch the night vanish
as a new day is born,
And I hear the birds sing
on the wings of the morn,
I see the dew glisten
in crystal-like splendor
While God, with a touch
That is gentle and tender,
Wraps up the night
and softly tucks it away
And hangs out the sun
to herald a new day...
And so I give thanks
and my heart kneels to pray -
"God keep me and guide me
and go with me today."

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE THADDEUS

(To be said in great affliction, or when one
seems to be deprived of all visible help, and for cases despaired of.)

MOST HOLY APOSTLE, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus-the name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies, has caused thee to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes thee universally as the patron of hopeless cases of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so miserable; make use I implore three, of that particular privilege accorded to thee to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolations and succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly
(here make your request) and that I may bless God with thee and all the elect forever.

I PROMISE thee O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor thee as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to thee. Amen.

MAY the most just, most high and most adorable will of God be in all things done, praised and magnified, forever and ever, Amen.

St. Jude pray for us and for all who honor thee and invoke thy aid.

ANONYMOUS

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve...I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.

I asked for health, that I might do greater things...I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.

I asked for riches, that I might be happy...I was given poverty, that I might be wise.

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men...I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life... I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing that I asked for, but everything I had hoped for.

Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered. I am among all men, most richly blessed!

PRAYER TO THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

My Lord Jesus Christ, who for the love you bear us, remain night and day in this Sacrament, full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling and welcoming all who come to visit you, I believe that you are present in t he Sacrament of the Altar. I adore you from the abyss of my nothingness and I thank you for all the graces you have given me until now, and in particular, for having given me yourself in this Sacrament, for having given me your Most Holy Mother Mary as my advocate and for having called me to visit you in this church.

I now salute your Most Loving Heart, and this for three ends: first, in thanksgiving for this great gift; second, to make amends to you for all the outrages which you receive in this Sacrament from all your enemies; third, I intend by this visit to adore you in all the places on earth in which you are present in this Sacrament and in which you are the least revered and the most abandoned.

My Jesus, I love you with my whole heart. I grieve for having until now so many times offended your infinite goodness. I purpose by your grace never more to offend you for the time to come; and now, miserable and unworthy though I am, I consecrate myself to you without reserve, give you and renounce my entire will, my affections, my desires, and all that I possess. From now on, use me and all that I have as you wish. All I ask of you and desire is your holy love, final perseverance and the perfect accomplishment of your will.

I recommend to you the souls in Purgatory; but especially those who had the greatest devotion to the Most Blessed Sacrament and to the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. I also recommend to you all poor sinners.

And finally, my dear Savior, I unite all my affections with the affections of your most loving Heart, and I offer them with you to your Eternal Father and beg him for your sake and for love of you, graciously to accept and grant them... Amen. [ St. Alphonsus de Liguori]
