To get your files from your computer to the Web, you have to send them to the right Prodigy server. Prodigy uses standard protocols to handle your files, so you simply have to set up your software to send the files to Prodigy.

You may be using a program which only handles such transfers or the Web design software you use may have an FTP (file transfer protocol) menu to do the job. The labels used in the settings window may be a little different from the labels below.

If your ID on SBC Global looks like this: jeffrey123@sbcglobal.net and your regular SBC Global Internet password is webuser, use the following settings:

Host/Server   pages.sbcglobal.net
Remote or Transfer Directory/
User IDjeffrey123@sbcglobal.net
Passwordwebuser

Your web site will be at http://pages.sbcglobal.net/jeffrey123/

If your ID on Prodigy looks like this: jeffrey123@prodigy.net and your regular Prodigy Internet password is webuser, use the following settings.

Host/Server   pages.prodigy.net
Remote or Transfer Directory /
User IDjeffrey123@prodigy.net
Passwordwebuser

Your Web site will be at http://pages.prodigy.net/jeffrey123/

Naturally you want to put in your own ID and password instead of the ones in this example! Your password is case-sensitive. WEBUSER, webuser, WebUser are three different passwords. Only the password that matches your Prodigy Internet password exactly will work.

If your ID on Prodigy looks like this: susan456@wans.net, and your password is suze, use the following settings.

Host/Server   wanspages.prodigy.net
Remote or Transfer Directory /
User IDSusan456@wans.net
PasswordSuze

Your Web site will be at http://wanspages.prodigy.net/susan456/

If your ID on Prodigy looks like this: fido@flash.net, you're your password is woof, use the following settings.

Host/Server   flashpages.prodigy.net
Remote or Transfer Directory /
User IDfido@flash.net
Passwordwoof

Your Web site will be at http://flashpages.prodigy.net/fido/

If you had a site on FlashNet before it became part of Prodigy Internet, you can continue to update that site with these settings:

Host/Server   ftpusers.flash.net
Remote or Transfer Directory /www
User IDfido
Passwordwoof

Your Web site will be at http://home.flash.net/~fido/

Note: ONLY use the portion of your ID before the @ symbol if you are on flash.net, but use your FULL ID if you are on prodigy.net or wans.net.

There are dozens of different Web site creation packages with various additional setup options. Microsoft FrontPage, for example, requires you to enter the Host/Server name (in its Publish command under File) with an FTP:// before it like this:

FTP://pages.sbcglobal.net

If you use FrontPage, remember that Prodigy Internet does not have FrontPage extensions installed on its server. To make FrontPage fully compatible with Prodigy Internet, follow the instructions here:
