Each player has a slightly different idea of what makes an ideal tipper. For a quote on your ideal stick, drop us a note with a detailed description of what you'd like and we'll try to come up with a something. Fiddlers Grove (orders@fiddlers-grove.com)
News!!! The Frankenstein Duplicator is finally finished!!! Now we can duplicate that favorite but broken or worn out tipper of yours!!! Just send it to us and tell us what kind of wood you'd like and we'll make a fairly exact copy in quick order. (Actually, poor old Frankie works kind of slow, but we're not that busy, so you'll get 2-3 day turn around anyway.)
If you are constantly wearing out your sticks, try one of our fine Purpleheart or Ipe sticks. They're indestructable!!! Guaranteed to defeat even the toughest goat. Ipe is especially nice since it is extremely dense and looks mighty good, a deep rich brown with subtle grain patterns. Purpleheart is slightly lighter, and is an outrageous purple color. Order online here.
Please Note: Even though the Bodhran has been declared a Weapon of Mass Destruction in several of the more civilized countries of the world, we think its okay to send tippers anywhere. So, we can now ship to you folks in Europe, OZ and New Zealand!! (We're still trying to decide about France.)
What the heck's a bodhrán tipper? Visit this site to find out: At Fiddlers Grove, we use alternative wood products where available. Our tippers are made mostly from recycled or alternative woods. The lignum vitae we use is recycled from worn ship propeller shaft bearings or is salvaged from shipyard shop waste. Most of the other woods we use are gleaned from the yacht and aircraft interior design trade (we're located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida). The chances are very good that the wood in your Goat Whacker came from the same board that is part some billionaire's megayacht or business jet interior.
Ipe, cocobolo, rosewood, maple, maple, bubinga, cocobolo, African rosewood, ipe.
Figured purpleheart and American walnut. These were custom tippers for a customer from Los Angeles. Massive sticks at 9.5" by 7/8"!!!
