A must-have for Crohn's patients. The big drawback with most of them is that they cause you to... *yawn*.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Medicine List
Matt the Webmaster: This drug was given to me by IV when I spent some time in the hospital back in 1996. It kept me asleep and mostly pain free. I highly recommend it if you don't mind sleeping your time away.
Janel: I had to talk my doc into this because it's an
RX that has 3 copies and is sent to the state. The good thing is that
1 pill seems to last all day.
Sasha: A drug that I first started taking when I was diagnosed when I was 18 (I'm now 23) is called Phenergan...It is used to relieve nausea, which I am an expert on. It does the trick, but it also knocks me out, leaving it difficult to drive, do homework (tough on a grad. student), and not drool while sleeping:) The last time I was in the hospital (May) I left with a hefty does of Vicodine. That stuff is crazy. It helped with the stomach cramps, but it is highly addictive and that's scary. It kind of put me into a trance when I took it....asleep, but not asleep...major drooling:) I also take Pentasa..16 a day. And I've had Remicade twice....within six weeks of each other. I'm going to try to convince my new doctor to give me another dose...it's been 5 months since my last one and I don't want the pain to come back.
Matt the Webmaster: This is my pain medicine of choice when I'm out of the hospital. It sometimes causes drowsiness, but asleep or not you shouldn't be operating machinery while taking this.
Janel: Caution to anyone who has a history of
migraines - Vicodine can cause secondary headaches / migraines to anyone
with a history of them so be careful. Also, normally dr.'s try you out
with regular Vicodine which is 5%. If you are in a lot of pain and
taking more then 8 a day, you should ask for extra-strength 8% Vicodine so
it's less stressful for your liver.
