The Maxx # 19

Issues 12-20 go together, but I had to split them up because there is so much going on in issues 19-20. If you haven't read it yet issue #19 is wonderful. There is quite a lot revealed in this issue. And I'm going to explain it to you.
Issue #19 begins with Mr.Gone giving Julie some old drawings she drew when she was young. This sparked memories from her childhood. She then remembered Uncle Artie's (Mr. Gone) stories of the Outback and how people can be on two planes at once. Mr. Gone also got Julie to remember the incident where she first met Dave (Maxx). It was a rainy night when Julie was driving back from a meeting. She saw a bum in the street and "accidentally" hit him. Feeling guilty she went to the aid of the stranger. Upon arriving in the alley she noticed a purple lamp shade sticking in the wall. What she didn't know was that the shade was in limbo between the Outback and the real world. Mr. Gone forgot to close a dimensional portal and the shade somehow got stuck. Once Julie figured out that she couldn't help the man she decided to cover the bum with the trash laying around. One piece of that trash was the lamp shade. This lamp shade then became fused with Dave's body, thus consuming him in Julie's world.

The Maxx #20

OK kiddes, this is the issue we have all been waiting for. The issue that finally concludes the first story arc and puts to rest many of the questions that have been building.
This issue starts with Maxx and Julie running from the Wholly. This creature is the reincarnation of Mr. Gone and Julie has to expell this entity in order to get her life back to "normal". What she doesn't realize is that Mr. Gone will never leave her life because he will always live on in her memory. The one thing "The Maxx" has tought me is that Maxx, Julie, and Sara try to build walls around things they don't want to face. But, you can't do that with Mr. Gone because he is the truth in Julie's life.
Next, is the realization by Maxx that he is no longer needed by Julie. And that he has to leave in order to get his life back "normal". He also explains to Sara that he is not her "Maxx" and that she has to get closer to hers. It is also revealed that Mr. Gone is not related to Julie. He is just a family friend.
Finally, is the extra bonus plot Sam put in the book. It shows a yellow slug escaping from Sara's Outback. If your wondering why there is a slug in her Outback, it will be expained in Issues #21-30.

Well now that you know a little about "The Maxx" I'll discuss a little about its creator Sam Kieth. Mr. Kieth has been doing comics since 1983. He worked with Marvel on several different projects. He also worked for DC, with writer Neil Gaiman on The Sandman. He drew issues 1-5. Then in 1993 he launched The Maxx.
