Lets see, The Maxx is quite the interesting person. You got to love a guy who wears a purple costume and has a face only a mother could love. Very little was revealed about Maxx. And I think this was Sam Kieth's purpose. The only information we have is that his real name is Dave and that he was a plumber. We also know that he was homeless when he got hit by Julie's car. We also know that he is dependent on Julie since he became consumed in her world. Maxx also has many internal conflicts that he has to work out.

Julie, - boy I could write a book on her. She is one of the most complex characters I have come across. Her story started when she was nine years old. She just saw her bunny killed by her mother and she needed a way to escape. That escape came through the stories "Uncle Artie" told of the Outback. The Outback allowed her to escape reality and hear only what see wanted. Her termoil continued through her "teen" years and culminated with the contact of "Uncle Artie". He raped Julie and left her to die in the street. This event put a strain on all future relationships with men.
Next, came the biggest event in her life, the meeting with "Dave". She was driving when see saw a dark figure in the middle of the street and thinking back to the meeting with Mr.Gone, she didn't put her foot on the brake. She suddenly realized what see did and she went over to man. There see saw the man that would later become the biggest part of her life--Good Ol' Maxx!!

Sara is another great character brought to you by Sam Kieth. Sara is a kid that always gets made fun of. She often gets called a moron, fat, foolish, and a geek. To compensate for this she built a wall around her soul. This kept unwanted things out. Sara also feels unwanted because her mother is an airhead and her father is the serial rapist/murderer Mr.Gone. But what she doesn't realize is that Mr.Gone can lead her to her spirit animal, a horse. Until Sara lets him in, she will never be whole.

Mr.Gone is an interesting guy. His motives are often a mystery. One thing we do know is that Mr.Gone is Sara's father. And to get to Sara he has to work through Julie. Another thing I want to get cleared up is that Mr.Gone is not related to Julie, he is just a family friend. Mr.Gone may be evil, but he is the key that unlocks Julie's Outback. His job, at this time, is to help Julie find the truth. Only when he accomplishes this can he move onto Sara.

I've just been informed by Marc Richardson who bought the "Maxx Video" that it is not an exact translation, but it is still good. He informed me that the video does change some things, ie: some of the scenes are removed and the music is different. Nevertheless, he says the video has great sound and a great picture, but if you want the exact series as put on by MTV I suggest that you start recording right now.
"The Maxx" comic book is going to take a new turn starting with Issue #24 and it will continue this trend every three issues. The new stories will be call "Friends of Maxx". Sam Kieth states that these stories will be one-shots that he wanted to tell even though they don't effect the story arc.
The Maxx Toy has finally arrived. Each figure comes with a black isz and an Outback headress, while some figures come with the rarer white isz.
Sam Kieth is going to reprint the first TPB, issues #1-6. He is also printing the next TPB issues #7-11. This move should make reading the earlier issues easier since they are hard to find.
I just found out that The Maxx will be renued on MTV. They plan to do 6 more episodes. There was no release date but I think it should be out in about 6 months.
