HPS members attend a variety of public events and ceremonies, where members function as honor guards, color guards, and escorts. Often times at events members "specialize" by wearing uniforms of a particular military branch or campaign. All members are required to follow thorough authenticity, appearance, and safety guidelines. This is to ensure a professional, responsible, and honorable reputation and presence when dealing with the public. Members also attend periodic "weekend tactical" events, where they learn squad tactics, participate in 'engagement scenarios' with other reenactors, and learn how to work as a team to accomplish a mission. These tactical events provide the reenactor with just a glimpse of the realization of the hardship and confusion, as well as the teamwork and comradery, that soldiers experienced on a daily basis during WWII. Much of the 'reward' from this dedicated hobby are the relationships we build with veterans. They know they are remembered, and their service and sacrifice will not be forgotten (Bob Reiber, WWII vet (left) and Russ Flattery, HPS member)
