The World War II Historical Preservation Society is a non-military, non political organization of private citizens who wish to honor their nation's veterans through a "living history" impression. The group attends ceremonies, monument dedications, and other public events where they can meet veterans, educate younger generations, and ensure that the history and sacrifices of our veterans are not forgotten. Members collect uniforms, gear, equipment and even vehicles that represent U.S. military history, and in turn, exhibit these items at its functions. While focusing primarily on WWII (1941-1945) impressions, the group has also honored veterans from WWI (1914-1918) with additional uniforms. Working closely with veteran's events and activities in central Iowa, the WWII HPS is also a chartered unit of the World War II Historical Reenactment Society (WWII HRS), a midwest based non-profit association of WWII reenactors (both Allied and Axis) who host a variety of events across the midwest.
